Ticket Sales – Terms and Conditions
On this page, we have set out the Museum of Power’s terms and conditions for the sale of tickets for the Museum’s events and use of its website.
The Museum of Power does its best to ensure that all the information on its website is current and accurate. However, mistakes can occur, so we would encourage anyone who may be thinking of making a special trip based on information displayed on the website to confirm that the information is correct. You can do this by emailing events@museumofpower.org.uk.
Now for the legal information:
- Definitions
In these terms and conditions the following words shall have the meanings set out below:
“Confirmation” means the confirmation email sent to you by the MoP under clause 4.2.3 acknowledging your booking and setting out the details of your booking.
“Contract” means any contract for the purchase of Tickets made between you and the MoP.
“MoP” means the Museum of Power whose registered and principal trading address is Hatfield Road, Langford, Essex CM9 6QA, registered in England as Charity Number 1087459 and company number 03203668. The Museum is not registered for Value Added Tax.
“Online Booking Form” means the pages for the booking of Tickets set out on the MoP’s website.
“Third Party” means a party other than you and the MoP.
“Third Party Event” means an event organised by a Third Party in respect of which the MoP is acting as ticketing agent only.
“Ticket” means any ticket for attending a live, staged performance of a theatrical nature at the Museum. All tickets shall be supplied by email in electronic form.
- General
2.1. These terms and conditions relate to the purchase and supply of Tickets and the use of the MoP’s website generally. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before purchasing any Tickets as by doing so, you accept that these terms and conditions will govern all Contracts.
2.2. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to affect your statutory rights.
2.3. These terms and conditions do not apply to any product listed for sale on the MoP shop website to which separate terms and conditions apply.
- Purchasing Tickets
3.1. If you book Tickets on behalf of others, you accept these terms and conditions on behalf of all members of the group and are responsible for all payments due from the party.
3.2. Only persons who are at least 18 years of age are permitted to book Tickets. By booking Tickets you warrant to the MoP that you comply with this requirement.
3.3. If there are any changes to your details once your booking has been concluded then it is your responsibility to inform the MoP.
3.4. The MoP reserves the right to place restrictions on:
3.4.1. the volume of any Tickets ordered;
3.4.2. the number of places available; and
3.5. It is your responsibility to check that any Tickets issued to you are accurate.
3.6. Any purchase of Tickets is only valid when processed by the MoP or an agent authorised by the MoP.
3.7. If you wish to transfer your Tickets into someone else’s name, you must contact the Mop Events Manager by either email or telephone at least one hour before the start of the performance and provide the name, phone number and email address of the person who will be attending.
3.8 Except as permitted by clauses 3.7 above a Ticket may not be transferred or resold for commercial purposes or at a premium. If a Ticket is transferred or resold in breach of this condition, the bearer of the Ticket or the person claiming the right to attend the event will be refused admission to the performance or event.
3.9. The MoP shall be entitled to make changes as to speakers, performers, running times and such other matters as it thinks fit in the case of any event.
3.10. By purchasing a Ticket, you shall be deemed to consent to you and any members of your group being filmed where the event or performance is being filmed and that the MoP has complete discretion as to use of any film without any recourse to you or any member of your group.
3.11. By purchasing a Ticket, you shall be deemed to consent for the MoP to utilise your personal data for contacting you directly regarding future events and activities. The information will not be used for any other purpose.
3.12. The MoP (reserves the right to ask for proof of eligibility for concessions at the access points for the event or performance.
- Additional Provisions Applying to Tickets Purchased on the MoP’s Website
4.1. The website www.museumofpower.org.uk is owned and operated by the MoP.
4.2. If you purchase Tickets over the MoP’s website, your Contract will be concluded as follows:
4.2.1. completion and submission of the Online Booking Form shall constitute an offer by you to purchase Tickets subject to these terms and conditions. You can correct any mistakes you make when filling out the Online Booking Form at any point before submitting it.
4.2.2. once you submit the Online Booking Form, the MoP will check that you have completed all parts of the Online Booking Form and confirm that you have sufficient funds to cover the total cost of the booking. Upon confirmation of these details, the MoP will then charge your credit or debit card accordingly. This in itself does not constitute acceptance of your offer.
4.2.3. once payment has been taken, an on-screen confirmation will be displayed and the MoP will send you a Confirmation as soon as possible. This Confirmation shall constitute the MoP’s acceptance of your booking. A Contract will be formed once you have received the Confirmation; and
4.2.4. if the MoP receives a prompt notification that the Confirmation was not delivered successfully, then the MoP will use reasonable endeavours to notify you of its acceptance and the details of your booking by other means.
4.3. The only language available for the conclusion of a Contract online is English.
4.4. Details of all Contracts concluded online (including the method of payment but not the card details) will be kept on file by the Museum and can be provided to you upon request.
4.5. You are entirely responsible for entering all details correctly on the Online Booking Form and any additional information requested. By submitting an Online Booking Form or any other form you warrant to the MoP that all details supplied by you are true and accurate.
4.6. You will be required to present your Ticket (either in printed form or on an electronic device) to gain entry to the event.
- Price and Payment
5.1. The price (including all taxes where relevant) of all Tickets are specified on the MoP website. These details are based on the best available information to the MoP and the MoP is not obliged to conclude any Contract on these terms.
5.2 For bookings made online over the MoP’s website, the MoP accepts payment by American Express, MasterCard, Visa and (save in the case of a Third Party Event or an Outside Performance, unless the MoP and the Third Party determine otherwise) Museum of Power gift voucher.
5.3. Payments can not be made over the telephone.
- Delivery of Tickets
All Tickets purchased via the Museum’s website will be electronic tickets and will be sent by email. You will need to present your Ticket to gain access to the event.
- Refund and Exchange Policy for Tickets
7.1. Subject to clauses 7.2, 7.3, and 7.3, the MoP will not refund your Tickets after purchase.
7.2. Where the MoP is unable to perform a Contract on the date(s) agreed because the performance in question is no longer available or viable, prior to the event commencing, the MoP will offer you a credit voucher or refund of the face value of the Tickets purchased.
7.3. For performances at where there is a multiple choice of timings on the date of the event, tickets may be exchanged for a different time slot, if there is availability, provided the Museum received at least 24 hours’ notice. A £4 Handling charge per ticket will be payable by you for this service.
There is no handling charge if the value of the tickets being returned is £0.
Tickets will be void once they have been exchanged or refunded.
7.4. MoP will issue a refund to you using the same method of payment you used to purchase the Tickets.
- Alterations
All Tickets are sold subject to the MoP’s right to make any alterations in the cast or programme details advertised on the MoP’s website or other appropriate location.
- Liabilities of the MoP
10.1. Subject to clause 10.3 below, the MoP will only be liable to you for direct and foreseeable losses arising as a result of:
10.1.1. a breach of these terms and conditions; or
10.1.2. any negligent act arising under or in connection with the Contract.
10.2. The MoP’s total liability under clause 10.1 above shall be limited to the total face value of the Tickets.
10.3. Nothing in this clause 10 excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud but is subject to the Museum’s insurance cover.
10.4. The MoP will not be liable in any way if it is prevented from performing its obligations under or arising from any Contract due to any factors which are beyond its reasonable control. Without limiting the foregoing, the following shall be regarded as causes beyond its reasonable control:
10.4.1. acts of god, which include earthquakes, cyclones, storms, flooding, fire, disease, pandemic, fog, snow or frost;
10.4.2. force majeure which includes war, accidents, acts of public enemies, strikes, embargoes, perils of the air, local disputes, terrorist or other attacks and civil commotions;
10.4.3. power failure and failure of sound or lighting equipment,
10.5. The MoP will not be liable for any losses incurred by you in connection with your use of the MoP’s website, for any delay in using or your inability to use the website, for any information or Tickets obtained through the website or for any material posted to the website by the MoP or by users of the website.
- Website Use
11.1. The MoP’s website is for your own personal and non-commercial use. You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer or sell any information obtained from the MoP’s website.
11.2. The contents of the MoP’s website, including any software, are protected by intellectual property rights and other related rights. No part of the MoP’s website may be reproduced in any form (electronically or otherwise) without the prior consent of the MoP, other than temporarily in the course of using the MoP’s booking service or as permitted by law.
11.3. You are not permitted to link to or use all or any part of the MoP’s website for any purpose which is unlawful, defamatory, harmful, obscene or objectionable.
11.4. You are not permitted to transmit anything which, in the MoP’s opinion, harms the MoP’s business or in any way offends other users or persons.
11.5. You are not permitted to alter the MoP’s website in any way.
11.6. You must not post onto or transmit to the MoP’s website any material containing software viruses or files which may damage or disrupt the good working order of computer or telecommunications equipment.
11.7. The MoP reserves the right to refuse to post onto or remove anything from its website which, in the MoP’s opinion, is objectionable or does not comply with these terms and conditions. The MoP shall not in any way be liable for such actions.
11.8. The MoP may record, preserve, trace and disclose anything which has been transmitted to, from or via the MoP’s website where required by law or where the MoP is acting in good faith.
11.9. If you create, or are provided with, a username, password or any other piece of information as part of the MoP’s security procedures, you must treat this information as confidential. In particular, you must not disclose this information to any third party.
- Links to Third Party Sites
The MoP’s website may contain hyperlinks to websites operated by parties other than the MoP. The operation of such websites is outside the MoP’s control and you proceed at your own risk. The MoP does not endorse or sponsor and is not liable for the products, services or content you access through any linked site.
- Data Protection
The MoP will collect, use, store and use your personal details to make contact to inform you of events and activities being undertaken at the Museum.

- Entire Agreement
All the terms of any Contract are contained or are referred to within these terms and conditions.
- Severability
If any part of these terms and conditions is held to be unenforceable this will not affect the enforceability of the remaining provisions.
- Safety and Enjoyment
17.1. The MoP (or the relevant Third Party) reserves the right to refuse admission and may request any Ticket holders a to leave (taking any such appropriate action which may be necessary to enforce this right) before or during performances if it considers it to be necessary or desirable to do so. The MoP may also, on certain occasions, have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of its patrons.
17.2. Latecomers may be asked to wait until a suitable break in an event before being admitted if it will disrupt the enjoyment of the event by others.
17.3. While personal bags will not be searched as a standard occurrence, the MoP reserve the right to conduct security searches of all bags. If you do not permit a search to be undertaken, you will not be admitted to the event.
17.4. Glass containers may not be brought into an event.
17.5. Mobile phones and other electronic equipment must be switched off (not silenced) before entering any performance where relevant signage reflects this protocol is required.
17.6. To be admitted you must be in possession of a valid Ticket.
17.7. Where an event signage expressly states to permit entry to children under the age of four, children under the age of four are not permitted to enter the event. Children aged 12 and under must be seated next to a responsible adult during performances and must be accompanied at all times on site.
17.8. Please note that strobe lighting and strobe lighting are sometimes used in productions, however, the Museum will ensure that appropriate signage is on display.
17.9. The MoP and any authorised third parties may carry out general filming and sound recording in or about the venue as well as filming and sound recording of performances. By purchasing Tickets, you consent to you and your party being included in and to the commercial exploitation of such films and recordings without payment and waive all moral rights in such films and recordings.
- Third Parties
Nothing contained in any Contract is intended to be enforceable pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by any third party.
- Governing Law
These terms and conditions and any Contract concluded incorporating these terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and all disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
