Events Volunteer: Murder at the Museum

We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly and enjoy a good whodunnit to help us give visitors a great experience at this gripping murder mystery and dinner event.

The Museum of Power reopened to the public in 2024 after a £1.9 million redevelopment. The Museum runs a busy events programme to animate its building and grounds, provide unique experiences for visitors and generate important funds for the Museum charity.

This is a great opportunity for someone who only has a short amount of time but wants to do something enjoyable and make other people smile at this special evening event. We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy working with the public and are able to welcome visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

What’s involved?

 

In this role you will:

  • BEFORE THE EVENT: Helping to set up the event; lay out clues, signage, furniture etc

AND/OR

 

  • AT THE EVENT: Welcoming visitors and answering questions; stewarding and assisting with health and safety; supporting performers; serving the dinner to visitors; helping to clear up and pack down the event.
  • Welcoming visitors of all ages and backgrounds, treating everyone with dignity and respect.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic about the Museum and its activities
  • Friendly, approachable and welcoming to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Keen to volunteer as part of a team
  • In good physical health (stewarding involves sustained standing and some light lifting, manual handling training will be provided)
  • Reliable and able to provide one reference

What is the time commitment?

Saturday 12 April, 3:00pm – 5:30pm              –                       Set up
Saturday 12 April, 5:30pm-10:30pm              –                       Event

You will have a named contact from the Museum team to support you, this is Debbie Thomas, the Museum Manager.
