After closing on Sunday 16th December 2018, the Museum opens for our 'Crank Up' & Wassail on New Years Day 2019, but will then be closed for maintenance until we reopen on Wednesday 5th February 2019.

Tea Room

Open on all event days 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

3rd January to 31st March Wednesday to Sunday 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.

1st April to 23rd December Wednesday to Sunday 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

Closed 24th-31st December 2018

Whilst the Tea Room is heated, only minimal background heating is provided within the museum so outdoor clothing is recommended during the winter months.

Group Visits

The Museum is happy to host group visits which include a guided tour, a demonstration of 'Marshall' (our triple expansion engine) and several options for refreshments/meals in the Steam Pump Tea Room.

2018 Prices (excluding What's On days, Lilleshall Steam Days and train rides)

Adults: £5.00; Concessions: Senior citizens and students (the latter on production of a current student ID card): £4.50; Children 5 to 15 incl £2:00; Children 4 and under: FREE

2019 Prices (excluding What's On days, Lilleshall Steam Days and train rides)

Adults: £6.00; Concessions: Senior citizens and students (the latter on production of a current student ID card): £5.00; Children 5 to 15 incl £2.50; Children 4 and under: FREE

Please note: there are reductions for groups of ten or more. In addition evening group visits can be arranged subject to minimum charge of £50. Please contact the Museum Manager for details on Tel: +44 (0)1621 843183.

On non-What's On days entrance to the grounds and tearoom is FREE, however a Museum entry charge applies as shown above.

On days when the miniature railway is running additional charges apply for rides, currently £1 per train ride or six rides for £5.

How to Find Us

The Museum is located at Langford on the B1019 approximately one mile from Maldon and three miles from Hatfield Peveral (Junction 20a/b on the A12 between London and Ipswich).
