Nabil Ali, Artist in Residence - Exhibition - 'Reflections' from a Water Pumping Station:

Nabil Ali is our Artist in residence who, during a five month period will be exploring the museum’s collections to form new artwork.  He will be sourcing raw material from the grounds turning plants and natural materials into pigments, dyes and art objects. Central to the work is understanding the “process” through research and first hand experiments creating new sculptural artwork which will include imagery related to water, fire, earth and movement and will lead to interactive exhibition of painted structural forms enclosed around trees and within the museum.Nabil’s residency culminates with an exhibition which opens on 29 October and runs until 26 November.  In-depth workshops and talks will be held on the 29th October which provide an insight to the artist's processes and research developed from historic painters' and illuminators manuscripts. By bringing art, nature and science together in his unique way, Nabil shows us new ways to look at our surroundings encouraging us to have a deeper understanding of how different elements can connect and work together.
